Basilisks Upset 2013 Premiers

THE Blackwater Basilisks have once again pushed their win-loss record into positive territory with an eye-catching 24-5 win over reigning premiers Brothers.
Coach Allan Hannah said although they won comfortably, it did not come without effort.
“It was an arm wrestle there for a while,” Hannah said.
“They threw a fair bit at us and we repelled them.
“It was pretty close up until half-time.
“It was probably our best second half for a couple of years.”
Standout performers included No.8 Neil Dellar and flanker James-Watson.
“He’s only a little fellow,” Hannah said.
“He plays well above his weight.”
Their third win from five matches was especially impressive considering they had conceded 29 points in each of their two previous victories.
“We worked a fair bit on our defence,” Hannah said.
“If we want to go further in the season, we definitely have to make sure the defence is right.”
Hannah said recording such a convincing win against the defending champions gave his side the belief they could beat anyone.
“There are no real standouts this season, it’s anyone’s game,” he said. “We’re still improving.” The Basilisks now sit fourth on the ladder due to a poor for-and-against record.
But they are only a bonus point behind second-placed Colts.
